The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon Kofi Iddie Adams, has revealed that the government is actively working on the Sports Fund Bill, which, upon passage by Parliament, will introduce a formalized system for funding sports development in the country.
A key feature of this initiative is the provision of attractive tax incentives for corporate entities that sponsor sporting events, disciplines, or infrastructure, thereby encouraging greater private-sector involvement in the growth of Ghana’s sports ecosystem.
“ We have not really had a structured funding of sports so what the Government plans to do is to create a Sports Fund and once it’s passed by Parliament they will tracking of the support of those who fund from the corporate world and those will surely benefit from tax incentives”
The Buem Constituency’s Member of Parliament of the ruling National Democratic Congress highlighted this is to address the longstanding challenge of inadequate financial support for sports development in Ghana, which has hindered the growth of athletes, infrastructure, and national competitiveness on the global stage
