
Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Sam Nartey George, has announced that the Government of Ghana is on the verge of finalizing a landmark agreement with an international partner to inject nearly $1 billion into the country’s IT infrastructure.
Speaking on the initiative, the Minister emphasized that the potential deal marks a transformative step towards strengthening Ghana’s digital ecosystem and positioning the country as a leading technology hub in West Africa.
“This investment will significantly upgrade our national IT infrastructure, enhance connectivity across the country, and support the development of smart digital services,” Hon. George stated. “It’s a strategic move that aligns with our long-term vision for digital transformation and innovation-driven economic growth.”
The Minister hinted that negotiations are at an advanced stage and that the deal will cover critical areas such as broadband expansion, data centers, cybersecurity, and digital literacy programs.
