Government, Regulators, and CEOs Chart Unified Path for Petroleum Hub

The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) on Wednesday convened a landmark Inter-Agency Dialogue in Accra, bringing together government officials, regulatory bodies, and private sector leaders to forge a coordinated roadmap for the development of Ghana’s ambitious Petroleum Hub project.

The event marked a pivotal moment in the national energy agenda, as key stakeholders—including the Member of Parliament for Jomoro, the Deputy Minister for Energy Deputy Energy and Green Transition Minister Richard Gyan-Mensah  (representing the sector Minister), the CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Edudzi Tamakloe, and Minister for Trade and Agribusiness, Elizabeth Agyare —voiced a common commitment to aligning efforts, removing bottlenecks, and boosting investor confidence in the multi-billion-dollar project.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Toni Aubynn CEO of PHDC, underscored the need for strategic coordination: “This dialogue is not just an event; it is a call to action. If we are to realize the Petroleum Hub, then government institutions, regulators, and business leaders must work as one team with a shared vision.”

Speakers stressed the importance of the hub in transforming Ghana into a key petroleum and petrochemical processing center in West Africa, capable of creating thousands of jobs, deepening local content, and enhancing energy security.

The Deputy Minister for Energy reiterated the government’s full backing, noting that the Petroleum Hub remains central to Ghana’s industrial transformation and long-term energy security goals. He pledged that the Ministry will continue to provide policy clarity and operational support to ensure smooth execution.

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and industry emphasized regulatory alignment, and also called for synergies between the energy and agricultural sectors to maximize the hub’s economic impact. “This project is more than energy infrastructure; it’s about building a value chain that touches every sector of our economy,” he stated.

The dialogue also featured contributions from a host of other CEOs, industry experts, and institutional heads who expressed readiness to collaborate on the strategic framework for the hub’s development.

As Ghana positions itself to become a regional energy powerhouse, Wednesday’s inter-agency engagement served as a crucial step in building the institutional trust, shared responsibility, and coordinated action needed to make the Petroleum Hub a reality.
