Government Reassures Public: Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang in Good Health

Ghana’s Vice President, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is reportedly in good health and receiving medical attention in the United Kingdom. The government’s assurance comes after concerns arose about her health following an illness on March 28, 2025, which led to her hospitalization at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, confirmed that the Vice President is taking a short medical break in the UK on her doctors’ advice. Eric Adjei, former deputy spokesperson for her 2024 campaign, shared that she is recovering well, citing updates from her team.

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their well-wishes and prayers during her recovery.

Government officials have dismissed circulating rumors about her health, emphasizing that her absence from public engagements is due to a routine medical rest period. Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also confirmed that she is well but following medical advice to rest.

With her expected return to official duties shortly, the nation remains hopeful for her full recovery. As Ghana’s first female Vice President, sworn into office on January 7, 2025, she has remained an influential figure in national politics.
