Government must retool NADMO – Joseph Appiah Boateng

About 25 communities in the Island communities in the area have been affected as a result of the Akosombo and Kpong spillage. The situation is getting worse as a result of the heavy downpour the area is experiencing.

The major roads connecting the communities have been cut off and a crying call to the minister of roads and highways Amuako Attah has fallen on death ears without any feedback.

Hon. Joseph Appiah Boateng Member of Parliament for Afram Plains South said the people in its constituency look to be neglected and all the attention is on the Southern part of the Volta Region.
He discloses this on Adekyee Mu Nsem’s morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM in Accra hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu.

Some community members have lost their farms and houses as a result of the spillage and it’s very unfortunate and bizarre that there is no relief support coming from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) this he believes the central government does not put any emergency priority on the problems affecting the country.

He reiterated that people cannot get a place to sleep and other related challenges as a result of this spillage, he called on the president to declare a state of emergency to confront the problem head-on to find a lasting solution to this problem.

In his opinion, he said there is a leadership failure on the part of the government and President Nana Akufo-Addo, especially where his comments have turned the situation into tribal politics which he believes is very bad and unfortunate.
