Accra, 26 November 2025 — The Government of Ghana has inaugurated a high-level Ministerial Oversight Committee to provide strategic leadership and ensure effective coordination across key ministries as the country gears up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The committee, launched by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, at the Presidency on Wednesday, is tasked with maximising the technical, diplomatic, economic, and cultural benefits Ghana can derive from its participation in the global tournament.
According to the Presidency, the committee will offer overarching policy direction, supervise the already inaugurated Technical Working Group, and receive periodic progress reports.
It will also spearhead resource mobilisation, investment partnerships, fan engagement strategies, and initiatives aimed at projecting Ghana’s image on the global stage during the competition.
The Ministerial Oversight Committee brings together senior government officials, security experts, and respected figures in Ghanaian football. Its membership includes:
1. Stan Xoese Dogbe – Office of the President
2. Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams – Minister for Sports and Recreation (Chair)
3. Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Ministry of Foreign Affairs
4. Hon. George Opare Addo – Ministry of Youth Development
5. Hon. Yusif Jajah – Deputy Minister, Ministry of Tourism and Culture
6. Hon. Ampem Darko-Nyarkoh – Deputy Minister, Ministry of Finance
7. Kurt E.S. Okraku – President, Ghana Football Association
8. Elizabeth Yankah – Deputy National Security Coordinator
9. Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah – Chief Director, Ministry of Sports and Recreation
10. Abedi Ayew ‘Pele’ – Former Black Stars Captain
11. One additional member to be confirmed
