Accra, Ghana – The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has announced the dissolution and reconstitution of statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils that were previously appointed under the outgoing administration.
According to the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), the appointments of these entities officially ended on January 7, 2025, coinciding with the inauguration of the new administration led by President John Dramani Mahama.
A formal statement issued by the Presidency, signed by the Acting Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, served as an official notice to all affected members.
The statement clarified that independent constitutional commissions are exempt from this directive.
The announcement emphasized that the reconstitution of affected boards, commissions, councils, and statutory corporations would be carried out in accordance with their respective enabling laws.
President Mahama expressed his gratitude to the outgoing members for their dedication and contributions to the nation, wishing them success in their future endeavors.
Additionally, the statement directed the management teams of the affected bodies to seek prior approval from the Chief of Staff before making any significant decisions, until new appointments are finalized.
This development underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and adherence to constitutional procedures during the reorganization of key administrative bodies.
