
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, alongside the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and the Regional Security Council, embarked on a fact-finding tour of the Offin Shelter Belt at Anwiafutu in the Atwima Mponua District.
During the visit, the lands minister issued a strong warning against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, vowing to take decisive action to protect Ghana’s natural resources.
Speaking to the media, he emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating illegal mining activities, which continue to degrade forests and water bodies.
He declared an all-out war against galamsey and warned that anyone caught engaging in illegal mining would be arrested, prosecuted, and jailed.

Audio PlayerOn his part, Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene assured that his administration would intensify community engagement efforts to educate residents on the dangers of illegal mining and the benefits of sustainable mining practices.
He further pledged to work diligently with all stakeholders to fulfill President John Dramani Mahama’s promise of restoring Ghana’s forest reserves and ensuring responsible natural resource management.
