Good relationship with border communities is a catalyst to improved trade facilitation and strengthening security – Custom Division.

The officials of the custom division of the Ghana Revenue Authority GRA are poised to strengthening their relationship with border communities as a catalyst to improved trade facilitation also strengthening security.

The move has become necessary as most of these communities are being identify as partner in quest by government to increase trade with the neighbouring countries

The Customs Division is a paramilitary organization which belongs to the Operational Division of GRA and forms part of the Country’s National Security architecture. The Customs Division has offices strategically located at all points of entry and exit including harbours, airports, land borders and parcel posts as well as other inland offices. Personnel of the Customs Division are identified by uniquely designed uniforms and accessories.

As a first line of defense, the Division plays a crucial role of protecting the territorial integrity of Ghana through its Preventive operations at both approved and unapproved borders.

Assistant commissioner at headquarters sector command Eric Kwaku Boney disclosed this after embarking on a health walk to kick-start this year’s custom celebration week which begins today.
