Goldbod Firmly Rejects Asaaseradio’s Allegations of GH¢3 Billion Losses, Affirms Robust Financial Health

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has strongly refuted claims made by Asaaseradio that it suffered losses exceeding GH¢3 billion during its inaugural year, categorizing the report as completely baseless and deliberately misleading.

In an official statement released on Monday, November 17, GoldBod dismissed the allegations as a false narrative concocted to damage the institution’s hard-earned reputation. The statement emphasized that the board has, on the contrary, made significant progress toward stabilizing the Ghanaian economy and strengthening its financial position.

GoldBod clarified that since commencing operations, it has not recorded any losses. Instead, it proudly reported generating substantial financial surpluses, defying the negative portrayal disseminated by Asaaseradio. This positive performance is a testament to the board’s prudent management and commitment to fostering economic stability.

To substantiate its claims, GoldBod announced it will soon publish detailed quarterly financial reports on its official website. These reports are expected to provide transparency and confirm the board’s sound financial status, further dispelling any misconceptions created by the erroneous media report.

“The quarterly financial statements of the GoldBod will soon be made available on the official website of the statutory corporation, and these will clearly demonstrate the board’s strong financial health,” the statement affirmed.

Moreover, the board has appealed to the public to view Asaaseradio’s report with scepticism and disregard it entirely. GoldBod labelled the publication as not only misleading but also unethical, calling on the media outlet to issue a public retraction and an unreserved apology for spreading false information.

In closing, the Ghana Gold Board stressed the importance of journalistic integrity and transparency and urged media organizations to verify facts before publishing stories that could harm institutions dedicated to national economic development.
