Godfred Yeboah Dame is just a “Boy”, Who Lacks The Mind of an Attorney General – Abraham Koomson

Abraham Koomson, Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), has strongly criticized Attorney General Godfred Dame following the leak of a phone conversation with Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the ongoing ambulance procurement case.

The National Democratic Congress released an audio recording where Mr. Dame allegedly tries to pressure Richard Jakpa into implicating Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the case. Dr. Ato Forson, a former Deputy Finance Minister, is currently on trial for his alleged role in procuring faulty ambulances for Ghana. This case has ignited public debate, with some demanding the Attorney General’s resignation due to his conduct.

In an interview with Citizen Kofi Owusu on Ahotor FM‘s morning show “AdeKyee Mu Nsem,” Abraham Koomson condemned the Attorney General’s actions as unprofessional, saying they brought embarrassment to both Mr. Dame and his office. Koomson bluntly stated, “Mr. Godfred Yeboah Dame is behaving immaturely, lacking the judgment required for an Attorney General.”

Mr. Koomson accused Mr. Dame of perjury and described the situation as unfortunate. He highlighted the inappropriate nature of the Attorney General’s attempt to coerce Mr. Jakpa into changing his testimony to implicate Dr. Ato Forson, calling it a clear violation of professional ethics.

“There was an issue with how the Attorney General tried to pressure Mr. Jakpa, the third defendant, to alter his information to implicate Dr. Ato Forson, the Minority Leader,” Mr. Koomson emphasized.

The GFL Secretary General questioned Mr. Dame’s motives, suggesting that the Attorney General knew his actions were wrong but proceeded regardless, which violates professional standards.

Abraham Koomson warned that abusing one’s office to wrongfully convict someone has serious consequences, implying that such misconduct undermines the integrity of the legal profession and the justice system.
