The Donkorkrom Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has swiftly contained a fire outbreak involving stacked timber logs at a sawmill in Mradan, located in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, after the Service received a distress call at exactly 3:33 p.m., prompting an immediate response. A fire crew led by Station Officer II (STNO II) Kodua arrived at the scene within minutes and began firefighting operations without delay.
The fire was brought under control at 4:56 p.m. and completely extinguished by 5:05 p.m. No injuries or fatalities were recorded during the incident.
In total, four (4) timber logs were partially damaged by the fire, while twenty (20) logs were successfully salvaged, significantly minimizing losses.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire likely originated from a nearby wildfire in the Krakye area, which spread to the sawmill before the Ghana National Fire Service was alerted.
Further investigations are ongoing as the GNFS renews its call on the public to promptly report fire outbreaks to prevent escalation and avoidable property damage.
