The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a diesel spillage involving a bulk tanker at Odumase Afrancho, near Liberty Fuel Station off the Trede Road.
The incident occurred on Friday, August 8, 2026, after the tanker reportedly fell on its side following a steering-lock problem, resulting in the spillage of approximately 13,500 litres of diesel. The incident was reported to the authorities at about 4:20 p.m.
The tanker, with registration number AS 8307-Z, was owned by Mr Denis Konsah and driven by Mr Awudu Ryazan. According to the GNFS, the vehicle sustained multiple dents to its bulk tank, which led to the fuel leakage.
A BOST Fire Post appliance, DPT FS 730, led by LFM Tuffour Kwakye Eugene, arrived at the scene at about 5:02 p.m. to contain the situation. Officers from other institutions, including Chief Inspector Frank Appiah and ADO I Anang Nii Otu Solomon, Officer-in-Charge of BOST, also assisted with the operation.
The fire crew tactically controlled the spillage and used foam to wash away the diesel and reduce the risk of ignition.
The GNFS confirmed that no casualties were recorded and no salvage operation was carried out. The response team concluded the operation and returned to base at about 9:59 p.m.
