Ghana is indeed struggling with water scarcity, and capital funding is crucial to ending this challenge. The Ghana Water Company is working on constructing new water treatment plants and pipeline networks, but unfortunately, some projects are on hold due to lack of funding.
According to Mr. Stanly Martey, the Communication Director of Ghana Water Company, the company needs funding investment to revitalize the water systems and alleviate the inconveniences faced by communities.
In the meantime, people are advised to store water due to rationing systems until more permanent solutions are implemented.
There are ongoing projects aimed at improving water supply in various regions, including:
*Water Supply Improvement Project (WSIP)*: Aiming to deliver safe drinking water to 69,000 people in 35 communities in the Volta Region.
*Reconstruction of Ejura Water System*: A project funded by the Government of Ghana to reconstruct the broken-down water system in Ejura, Ashanti Region.
– *Reconstruction of Yeji Water System*: Another Government-funded project to reconstruct the broken-down water system in Yeji, Bono East Region.
These projects demonstrate the efforts being made to address water scarcity in Ghana. However, more funding is needed to support these initiatives and ensure that all communities have access to safe and reliable water supply.
