Asante Kotoko SC is set to fly Ghana’s flag high as they participate in the prestigious Capital City Africa Cup in Washington DC this October. This exciting event, sanctioned by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), will see the Ghanaian football giants clash with Major League Soccer’s DC United on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the iconic Audi Field.
Organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the GFA, this annual fixture is a highlight of the Ghana Week DC 2024 celebrations, bringing a vibrant showcase of Ghanaian culture and football prowess to the United States. The match promises to be a thrilling encounter, underscoring the deep connections between the two nations.
Asante Kotoko, known for their rich history and passionate following, will compete in the state-of-the-art Audi Field, located in Buzzard Point, Southwest Washington D.C. This friendly marks a significant moment as it is only the second time a Ghanaian Premier League team will face an MLS side on American soil. Last year, Medeama SC made history in a similar match, narrowly losing 2-1 to DC United.
