Ghana’s National 100m Record Holder Rasheed Saminu Signs Three-Year Endorsement Deal with ASICS

Ghana’s national 100m record holder, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, has taken a significant step forward in his sprinting career by signing a three-year endorsement deal with the renowned Japanese sportswear brand ASICS.

This landmark agreement, which officially marks his transition into professional athletics, runs retrospectively from October 2025 and extends through December 2028, with the possibility of an optional extension into 2029.

Under the terms of the partnership, ASICSamerica will provide comprehensive support that includes covering travel expenses for competitions and training camps, funding for physical therapy to aid in injury prevention and recovery, and a dedicated coaching allowance to ensure he has access to top-tier guidance and resources.

These provisions are designed to remove financial barriers and allow Saminu to focus entirely on his performance and development as an elite sprinter.

The deal represents Saminu’s first official professional contract following his standout collegiate career at the University of South Florida, where he became the second-fastest man in NCAA 100m history and broke Ghana’s national record with a blistering time of 9.86 seconds.

Having graduated and now embarking on his full-time professional journey at age 28, this endorsement comes at a pivotal moment, offering crucial backing as he prepares to compete on the international stage.

The timing could not be more opportune, serving as a major confidence boost ahead of key upcoming events, including the World Relays scheduled in Botswana and the Commonwealth Games set to take place in Glasgow.

With ASICS’ global reputation for high-performance gear and athlete support, this collaboration positions Saminu well to build on his impressive achievements, chase faster times, and represent Ghana with even greater strength on the world scene.

The announcement has already generated excitement among fans, fellow athletes, and sports enthusiasts, who see it as a well-deserved recognition of his talent and potential.
