Ghana’s Futsal Black Stars Gear Up for Decisive 2026 AFCON Qualifier Clash Against Zambia

Ghana’s national futsal team is gearing up for a crucial two-legged qualifier against Zambia, with the winner earning a spot in the 2026 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Morocco. This decisive home-and-away tie represents the final round of qualification, where only one side will advance to join the hosts and other qualified teams at the continental showcase.

The Black Stars of futsal are currently in intensive preparations, having set up camp in Prampram to sharpen their skills and build team cohesion ahead of the high-stakes encounters.

Head coach Philip Boakye expressed strong confidence in his squad during an interview with SportyFM, emphasizing that the players are fully prepared and motivated to take on the challenge posed by their Zambian opponents.

The first leg is scheduled to be hosted by Ghana on February 3, with the venue confirmed as the University of Cape Coast Sports Hall, giving the home side the advantage of familiar surroundings and vocal crowd support.

Just a few days later, the teams will meet again for the return fixture on February 8 in Lusaka, Zambia, where the aggregate score over the two matches will determine who progresses to the finals.

This matchup pits Ghana, who are showing steady improvement in the futsal scene, against a Zambia side that qualified for the previous edition and comes into the tie with momentum from recent impressive results, including dominant friendly wins.

Both coaches have acknowledged the toughness of the opposition, setting the stage for an intense battle as the road to Morocco 2026 reaches its climax for these two nations.
