A Financial Analyst Nii Yarboi Annan says the Ghanaian economy has collapsed.
According to him, the Nana Akufo-Addo has no choice than to shut down the economy in order to initiate a restart.
Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, an influential cousin of President Akufo-Addo in a series of tweets suggested that the E-levy was only meeting 10% of revenue projections.
His tweets come after a deputy minister of Finance suggested that government was considering turning to the IMF for salvation.
Government had trumpeted the E-levy as the solution to the economic woes of the country but Gabby Otchere Darko in his tweet suggests that the E-levy may not be the solution.
“What options are open to government? The question should rather be: what option, if adopted, will re-inject investor confidence in our economy? Even if we find the $3-5billion required, will that help? E-levy which was to have given us some 600m by now has done less than 60m,” he stated.
Nii Yarboi Annan however disagrees as he was of the opinion that government only delayed the inevitable.
In an interview with Sena Nombo on the Gold Morning Conversation, the Financial Analyst says the Nana Akufo-Addo government should have taken the bitter pill and made tougher decisions from January.
