Ghana’s current financial struggles are the result of deliberate decisions by President Akufo-Addo – Ivan Kyei Innocent

Youth activist Ivan Kyei Innocent has accused President Akufo-Addo of intentionally crashing Ghana’s economy. According to Ivan, Ghana’s current financial struggles are not accidental but the result of deliberate, calculated decisions made by President Akufo-Addo and his administration.

During an interview on Ahotor 92.3 FM’s “Simpieso” show with host Emmanuel Martey, Ivan Kyei Innocent explained that the delayed payment of nursing trainee allowances is due to the country being financially broke. He emphasized that this situation is a direct outcome of the government’s actions.

Despite assurances from Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that GH¢177 million would be allocated to the Ministry of Health within the week to cover these allowances, Ivan Kyei Innocent remains skeptical. Speaking at the launch of the 2024 International Nurses Day celebration at the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) secretariat, Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that the funds would be available soon.

However, Ivan Kyei Innocent argues that the government lacks the financial resources to fulfill this promise. He insists that the economy is in such dire straits that it will be impossible to pay all the nursing trainees their due allowances.

Ivan Kyei Innocent also urged the government to be honest and transparent with the citizens about the true state of the country’s economy. He called for more openness from the leadership, stressing the importance of truthfulness in addressing Ghana’s financial challenges.
