Ghanaian movie actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win has sparked conversation with his candid comments about working with Nigerian actors.
According to Lil Win, he prefers working with Nigerian actors because, in his view, they are more business-minded and take their professional commitments seriously.
“Ghanaians play with their work too much; Nigerians are business-minded. That’s why I choose them,” he said.
The comments come at a time when Lil Win is working on his international movie project, “A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu),” which has brought several prominent Nigerian stars to Ghana.
The project features notable Nigerian actors including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, Zubby Michael, Mike Ezuruonye and Destiny Etiko, among others.
Lil Win’s decision to bring established Nigerian stars into his production has generated interest within Ghana’s entertainment industry, particularly about the differences in work culture, professionalism and business practices between the Ghanaian and Nigerian movie industries.
While his remarks have attracted attention, they also raise a broader question about what filmmakers look for when selecting actors for major productions—talent alone, or a combination of talent, discipline, professionalism and business attitude?
