Ghanaians didn’t treat Michael Essien well – Prince Tagoe
Former Black Stars Striker, Prince Tagoe ” prince of goals” has expressed displeasure on how some of the Black Stars legends are treated in this Country.
Speaking to the issues of why the Ex footballers don’t get involved in Football activities in the country especially those who are still active in football but in a different capacity after retirement from active play.
“some of the players were not treated fairly, someone like Michael Essien, Ghanaian didn’t treat him well. If I have to be honest, some of us didn’t treat him well from my point of view. When Essien was at his peak at Chelsea, he comes to the national team even with injuries, some of the fans should have rubbished the play on his face, but When you checked Essien’s profile, he is very quiet and Knowledgeable like Stephen Appiah. These are the people who can help Ghana Football “.
“Michael Essien was not treated well even in the issues of Captaincy, he was overlooked, and am not surprised he said he will not come closer to the national team “. he added
Accra, Ghana, Tagoe played for Accra-based team Hearts of Oak from 2004 to 2005, where he won the Ghana Premier League in 2004 and the CAF Confederation cup also in 2004.
Helping Hearts of Oak to the league title, he scored 18 goals to win the top goal scorer of the league that season.
Tagoe represented Ghana 36 times and scored seven goals. He featured at two African Cup of Nationals finals, in 2006 and 2012.
He was also a member of the Ghana Black Stars at the 2010 Fifa World World Cup.
