Ghanaians are not fools to accept this deficit budget

I am delighted and happy and l believes Ghanaians will share my opinion that this is the last budget for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government that has brought severe economic hardship and corruption in the past seven years. It’s on record that, since from 2016 to 2018 the NPP government was enjoying the hard work of John Dramani Mahamah economic financial International Monetary Fund balance sheet. The stable economy the past National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has left behind for President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has been recklessly managed and this has brought untold hardship to Ghanaians.
The Former Ambassador to India, Hon Sam Pee Yalley said this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM and hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu. He reiterated that, what are the positive indicators in the financial budget where the economy is declared to be junk.
We are in stage of this country where revenue is less than expenditure; this appoints to the fact that the recurrent deficit has already throw the fiscal policy out of control and there is the need for the government to sit up and put structures in place to control the mismanagement and corruption going on in all sectors of the economy.
Hon Sam Pee Yalley opined that, the government budget deficit of 50billion dollars has already put our country financial position in a bad shape and going forward he believes the government will control this excessive borrowing to invest into productive ventures that can create jobs and addition income to keep the economy in good position.
Speaking on the same platform Hon. Amadu Bugari Sorogho Former Member of parliament for Madina Constituency said NPP as a government don’t have any economic track records, with all the empty campaign promises, he does not believe Ghanaians will take them serious.
The government borrows heavily on the success achievements of John Dramani Mahama and mismanaged the economy for the past seven years and has nothing to show off apart from corruption and budget deficit.
He stated that, some of the tax waivers and breaks will not help the economy and Ghanaians in a shot term rather is a system put in place to create an avenue to raise revenue to meet the expectations of the International Monetary Funds.
Aggressive taxation with financial discipline is the only key that can help this country. NPP has destroyed the country the economy and has blotted the government budget with food inflation and weak currency has put the 2024 budget unsustainable to carry out any capital investment in an election year.
