Ghanaian Fans Struggle to Get Tickets for Black Stars vs. Chad World Cup Qualifier
Ghanaian football fans are facing difficulties in obtaining tickets for the highly anticipated 2026 World Cup qualifier match between the Black Stars and Chad, scheduled to take place tonight at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The four-time African champions, seeking to secure their fifth Mundial appearance, will host the bottom-placed team in the qualifiers in a crucial Matchday five encounter. However, fans are struggling to get their hands on tickets, despite the National Sports Authority’s (NSA) efforts to make them available.
In a surprise move, the NSA’s Communications Director, Charles Amofa, announced that tickets would not be sold online, contrary to previous practices. Instead, fans are required to purchase printed tickets at the stadium gates. This decision has led to long queues and frustration among fans eager to watch the match.
Ghana’s electronic ticketing system, first introduced in 2022 for the World Cup playoff match against Nigeria, has failed to improve over the years. The system has been plagued by issues such as failed ticket verification, internet connectivity problems, and more. These technical difficulties have added to the fans’ frustration.
For those able to obtain tickets, the prices are as follows:
– VVIP: GH₵200
– VIP: GH₵150
– Lower VIP: GH₵100
– Osu Stand: GH₵20
– Popular Stand: GH₵10
The Black Stars will take on Chad tonight at 7 PM at the Accra Sports Stadium. The team will then travel to Morocco to face Madagascar in their Matchday six encounter on Monday.
