Ghana has secured a $10.5 million windfall after qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Mexico, Canada, and the US. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will receive $9 million in participation prize money and an additional $1.5 million for team preparation costs.
The FIFA Council approved a record $727 million funding package for the expanded 48-team tournament, a 50% increase from Qatar 2022. Ghana’s qualification guarantees them a significant financial boost, providing opportunities for investment in youth development, infrastructure, and grassroots football.
Ghana has been drawn into Group L, facing England, Croatia, and Panama. The team will look to make a strong impression and progress beyond the group stage, with potential prize money increasing to $15 million for the round of 16, $19 million for the quarter-finals, and $50 million for the champions.
The funds will help strengthen national team logistics, technical preparation, and player welfare, with potential for long-term investment in Ghanaian football.
