Ghana to Establish National Defence University, Education Minister Announces

Ghana is set to establish a National Defence University (NDU) to enhance the country’s security skills and provide specialized training for security services. The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, announced this in Parliament, revealing that the bill establishing the university is ready for presentation.
The proposed NDU aims to provide high-level training for security personnel, addressing the country’s security needs. Minister Iddrisu emphasized the importance of investing in security education, stating that issues of security and highly trained officers are taken seriously.
The Minister assured that quality education and accreditation will be prioritized, enabling officers to acquire specialized skills. He suggested that Ghana review its accreditation regime and field of expertise to create an enabling environment for the university’s success.
The establishment of the NDU is part of President Mahama’s initiative to boost Ghana’s security capabilities. The university will contribute to the country’s development by providing trained security professionals.
The proposed National Defence University is expected to be a significant milestone in Ghana’s security sector, enhancing the country’s ability to address security challenges.
