Ghana Star Antoine Semenyo in Contention for Premier League Player of the Month

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has been nominated for the February Player of the Month award in the Premier League after an impressive run of form.

The in-form attacker earned the nomination following a blistering start to life at Manchester City since his winter move to the club.

Semenyo has already scored five Premier League goals in seven appearances for the title contenders, with three of those strikes coming in February. His standout performances during the month included a goal in City’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, before finding the net again in victories over Fulham and Leeds United.

The 26-year-old faces stiff competition for the monthly accolade from several top performers across the league. Fellow City youngster Nico O’Reilly is also nominated, alongside Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres, Brentford forward Dango Ouattara, Manchester United star Benjamin Šeško, and Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

This marks Semenyo’s second nomination for the award this season, though the Ghana international is yet to clinch the monthly honour.

The England-born forward joined City during the January transfer window from AFC Bournemouth in a deal worth £62.5 million, and he has quickly become one of the standout performers in Pep Guardiola’s side.
