Joseph Yamin, the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Deputy Sports Minister, has criticized the decision to host the 13th All African Games, stating that Ghana was not economically prepared for such an undertaking.
Yamin expressed his views during an interview on Ahotor 92.3 FM, where he claimed that hosting the games served as a platform for the ruling NPP government to embezzle state funds. He argued that considering the state of the economy, Ghana should have declined the opportunity to host the competition.
Accusing the current Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, of incompetence, Yamin called for a thorough investigation into the over $200 million budget allocated for the African Games. He assured the Ghanaian public that if the ruling government fails to conduct an inquiry, the NDC, upon winning the 2024 general elections, will prioritize investigating the matter.
Yamin urged voters to oust the NPP government, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency in managing state resources. He urged Ghanaians to consider the implications of the government’s actions on the country’s economic stability and development.
