The Ghana Seafarers Association, along with some former workers of the Tema Shipyard, has petitioned the government to investigate the activities of Dr. Alexander Yaw Adusei, the immediate past CEO of the Tema Shipyard Limited.
According to the petition, Dr. Adusei managed the shipyard’s affairs single-handedly, without accountability, and sacked board members and management who questioned his actions over the past two years.
The petition alleges that Dr. Adusei’s agenda was to loot state resources, taking advantage of the lack of oversight. The group has called on authorities to take action against the former CEO, citing questionable contracts and financial dealings.
The Tema Shipyard, which was established in 1964, is a significant facility for Ghana’s maritime industry. The allegations against Dr. Adusei raise concerns about governance and accountability within the institution.
It’s worth noting that during Dr. Adusei’s tenure, the shipyard’s workers had assured of their commitment to work closely with management to resolve issues and improve productivity.
However, the petition suggests that Dr. Adusei’s leadership style and actions may have undermined these efforts.
