Ghana Saves $700,000 in Black Stars Budget Review – Sports Minister reveals

Ghana’s Sports Minister Kofi Adams reveals that a review of the national men’s football team budget has saved nearly $700,000 without impacting 2026 World Cup preparations.

The cost-cutting measures, implemented with the Ghana Football Association, streamlined expenditure and improved oversight.

“We’ve worked together with the FA to make sure that we rationalize our budgeting and release processes and this in a way has saved close to about 700,000 in two games involving the Black Stars.

All these have gone a long way to build confidence and the players did not suffer, the technical team did not suffer. They continued, Your Excellency, to receive what is due them even in these savings,” Adams said.

The meeting at the Sports Ministry included GFA President Kurt Okraku and ministry officials. Ghana is set to compete in the 2026 World Cup, with officials confident the financial discipline will boost long-term planning for the Black Stars.
