Ghana Rivals Panama Line Up Africa Test Against Bafana Bafana Before World Cup

Ghana’s Group L opponents Panama will travel to Africa later this year to face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a series of pre-World Cup international friendly matches as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The friendly fixtures will form part of Panama’s build-up programme under head coach Thomas Christiansen, following recent home-based preparation matches against Bolivia and Mexico last month.

Panama, popularly known as Los Canaleros, will open their World Cup campaign against Ghana on 17 June at BMO Field in Toronto, in what is expected to be a crucial Group L encounter.

They will then return to the same venue to face Croatia on 23 June, before concluding their group-stage matches against England at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

With the tournament fast approaching, Panama’s decision to test themselves against African opposition highlights their intent to be fully prepared for the challenges posed by Ghana and the other teams in a highly competitive group.
