Ghana Premier League: RTU issue apology letter after Irate fans attack referee in Tamale

Some disgruntled Real Tamale United supporters yesterday broke into the inner perimeter after their 1-1 drawn game against Aduana Stars.

The home side took the lead in the first half through Baba Kusibo while Eric Kwakwa pulled parity for the visitors.

The results leaves the Tamale based side perilously close to the relegation zone as RTU lie 15th just a point above the drop zone.

Referee Emmanuel Adu Quansah received some beatings as well as his other assistants Courage Kuedufia Jaspa Adenyo after the game hence prompting the club to issue an apology to clear the air.

PRESS STATEMENT

“We observe with great dismay the act of violent conduct exhibited by two miscreants who call themselves supporters of our great club.

Management of the club has since lodged an official complaint against them at the Police Station for the immediate arrest and prosecution of these two badnuts from our lovely sport.

The club shall fully press charges against these persons of which they shall be used as scapegoats to deter others from this conduct.

We however apologize to the officiating officials who were unfortunately attacked by those miscreants and assume full responsibility for their medical safety.

We also apologize to all stakeholders of the game and wish to assure all that serious safety measures shall be put in place in order to ensure each and every one patronizing RTU matches are safe.”
