Ghana Premier League Referee, Maxwell Hanson sues Young Apostles President, Samuel Anim Addo for defamation

Referee Maxwell Hanson is suing outspoken club president Samuel Anim Addo for defamation, AhotorSports can confirm.

Hanson officiated Dreams FC’s 1-0 against Accra Lions at the Tuba Astro Turf last Sunday where the visitors Lions expressed dissatisfaction about officiating in a statement addressed to the Ghana Football Association.

Match winners on the day, Dreams FC wrote to counter the earlier release by Accra Lions saying that their efforts in the hard-fought win should not be discredited. Dreams FC went further to say that every club benefit from refereeing decisions.

The comments made by former GFA ExCo member called for a charged by the FA stating that it has brought the name of the Association into a disrepute. Samuel Anim Addo charged by GFA after social media accusation Addo has until January 13, 2024 to respond the charge.

In a letter addressed to Anim Addo, Maxwell Hanson is seeking the Young Apostles co-owner to preserve the information relating to the leadership of the publication, delete the post from all social media platforms, undertake not re-publish the comments, publish an apology and pinned to archives, pay compensation to the referee and pay all legal costs.

According to the letter, Anim Addo has up to January 17, to comply and failure to do so will warrant further serious legal action.
