Ghana Has No Branding – Yaw Yeboah

Brand Expert and International Acclaimed Motivation speaker, Scofrey Nana Yaw Yeboah says,  Ghana lacks the ingredients that makes up a brand.

He noted that, the country has the resources but cannot put them together to make a brand for the country to be well known by other countries.

Nana Yaw in an interview on Ahotor morning show added that wearing an attire is not what makes a brand rather, but certain things you do, measures put in place makes up a brand which includes promoting our rich culture and making use of our natural resources.

When all these are put together and planned well, will create a brand for the country.

He added that Ghana is only known by the achievement of  Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s fight for independence by other countries: none of the presidents after Nkrumah has ever set a brand for the country even African print clothing is made in Holland and some other countries.

Cocoa is produced and used for chocolate in Ghana but some Ghanaians cannot afford due to the price its sold for.

He added that ‘a country like Germany is known for quality machines and that is their brand, quality electronics by the Japanese and that is also their brand, America is also know for the movies, hip pop songs and Hollywood stars’.

In his conclusion, Mr Scofrey said, moving of Independence Day celebration from the capital city to other regions does not make up a brand but rather is a form of education for the people in the town to have an idea of how and why such a day is celebrated.

According to him none of the cars for display is made in Ghana, it will rather bring joy and create a boom market for the people especially involved in managing hotels for accommodation, hawkers who will be around to sell water and other items but it has no impact or form of branding.
