Ghana has cease working under the NPP – Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo

Dr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the immediate past National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed deep concerns about the state of Ghana’s economy, highlighting several challenges.

He pointed to issues such as high inflation, low productivity, high unemployment, poor resource management, and a lack of accountability as critical problems.

Additionally, he emphasized the negative impact of illegal gold mining, commonly referred to as “galamsey.”

According to Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo, Ghana’s economic performance has significantly declined under the administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He criticized the government for its failure to effectively manage the economy and suggested that the current administration has brought the country to a standstill.

He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the illegal mining issue, accusing the NPP of failing to address the galamsey crisis effectively.

In an interview with Ahotor 92.3 FM, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo stressed that the government’s inability to curb illegal mining has had devastating effects on both the environment and the livelihoods of Ghanaians.

He described galamsey as a national crisis that has endangered lives, destroyed water bodies, and caused widespread environmental damage.

Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo urged Ghanaians to hold the Akufo-Addo government accountable for its economic mismanagement and failure to tackle illegal mining.

He called on the electorate to vote the NPP out of office in the upcoming 2024 general elections, arguing that their removal from power is essential to bring about positive change.

For him, the failure to combat the galamsey menace should serve as a powerful motivation for Ghanaians to seek new leadership that will prioritize the well-being of the nation and its people.

In his view, the economic struggles and environmental damage caused by the NPP administration’s policies should be enough reason for Ghanaians to demand better governance and a brighter future by choosing a new government.
