Ghana Government Ends Funding for Fans at Tournaments

Ghana’s Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, has announced that the government will no longer finance fans’ travel to international tournaments.

This decision aims to reduce expenditure and protect public funds.

“We can bring corporates to send supporters, but not government money,” Adams said.

The government spent $3 million supporting fans during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Adams promised that if Ghana wins the 2026 FIFA World Cup, he’d arrange first-class flights for the team to tour every district in Ghana to celebrate.

The Black Stars’ World Cup qualification hopes have fans eager to support the team.
