Ghana Football Association Unveils New Black Stars Captaincy Structure

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the new captaincy structure of the Black Stars, with Jordan Ayew at the helm.

This development follows earlier reports suggesting changes to the team’s leadership.

According to Henry Asante Twum, Communication Director of the GFA, Thomas Partey remains the deputy captain, while Mohammed Kudus and Alexander Djiku serve as the second and third vice-captains, respectively.

“The coach has taken a decision to make Jordan Ayew the captain, with Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and Alexander Djiku serving as the first, second, and third vice-captains of the Black Stars,” Twum explained.

Jordan Ayew’s captaincy has begun on a positive note, with the Black Stars securing back-to-back wins in the March international break.

Ghana dominated Chad 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium before defeating Madagascar 3-0 in the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The impressive victories over Chad and Madagascar have propelled the Black Stars to the summit of the standings in Group I, with four games remaining in the qualifiers.

The team will regroup in September 2025 for the continuation of the World Cup qualifiers, eager to build on their momentum under Jordan Ayew’s leadership.
