Ghana’s Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, believes the country has the capacity to co-host the FIFA World Cup with Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire in the future.
Adams urges the government to start planning a long-term bid, citing FIFA’s growing preference for multi-nation hosting.
Adams notes that Ghana, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire have strong foundations, with Côte d’Ivoire recently hosting the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. “Maybe the next one would be Ghana, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire coming together to host the World Cup,” he said.
With the US, Mexico, and Canada hosting next year’s tournament, and Morocco, Spain, and Portugal co-hosting 2030, Adams believes Ghana can pursue a similar path with its West African neighbors. The country has significant infrastructure and experience, making a joint bid a viable option.
