The Ghana Culture Forum is a membership based Civil Society consultative forum. It is a network of cultural actors (practitioners and activists) united around a common vision of affirming the cultural foundations of development and enhancing the cultural sector.
Their main motive is to ensure the recognition and mainstreaming of issues of culture in national development as enshrined in the Constitution in the Directive Principles of State Policy.
They monitor and intervene in developments in the cultural sector as envisaged in the Ghana Cultural Policy.
They coordinate and represent the views and voices ensuring that they are heard and ventilated supports cultural activists and their organizations to promote the best of Ghanaian creativity and heritage. Promotes Ghanaian identity through our cultural diversity.
The Ghana culture day is celebrated on the 14th of March every year since its institution in 2012 at the official launch of the Ghana Culture Forum.
There was an introduction of inter school debate competition this year among some senior high schools in the greater Accra region which was held on the March 11 at the Teshie Presbyterian Senior High School
This made it possible for students to express the knowledge they have about the creative industry.
The winning schools were awarded some citations and sums of money.
This year’s culture day ended in a grand style at the Ghana India Kofi Annan Center for Excellence in ICT, Accra under the theme; ‘strengthening the cultural and creative industry for socio-economic development’
It was graced by the former 2nd lady of Ghana, H.E Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur, the Deputy and former Deputy ministers of Tourism, Arts and Culture respectively, Hon Mark Okraku Mantey, Hon Abla Dzifah Gomashie, a Creative consultant who was the keynote speaker for this year’s celebration of Ghana culture day, Mr. Mike Amon Kwafo, executive Director for National Commission on culture, madam Janet Edna Nyame and the country representative of UNESCO to Ghana, Mr. Abdourahamane Diallo, etc.
