Ghana Black Stars Hold First Training Session in South Korea Ahead of 2026 World Cup Preparations

The Ghana Black Stars, the senior national football team, held their inaugural training session in South Korea at the prestigious Korea Football Association (FA) facility.

The session marked a crucial step in the team’s buildup for upcoming international commitments, with the squad gearing up under the guidance of head coach Otto Addo.

All invited players were in attendance for the rigorous workout, demonstrating high levels of commitment and enthusiasm.

However, two notable absences were recorded: defender Mohammed Salisu and forward Antoine Semenyo, both of whom have returned to their respective club bases in Europe to attend to personal matters. Also Toulouse’s Francis Abu has been ruled out of the game after his awkward injury he sustained in the Japan game.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that their departures were pre-approved and are not expected to impact the team’s long-term preparations.

This training camp in South Korea comes on the heels of Ghana’s second fixture in the November 2025 international window. The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to hosts Japan last Friday in an away friendly match played in Japan.

The loss served as a valuable learning experience, highlighting areas for improvement as the team refines tactics and cohesion.

Coach Otto Addo is laser-focused on molding a competitive unit ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
