In a significant development aimed at bolstering diplomatic and economic collaboration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar convened the second round of bilateral and political consultations with Ghanaian authorities in Accra.

Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the Qatari delegation, while Ghana’s delegation was headed by Ambassador Ramses Joseph Cleland, Chief Director at Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The discussions focused on deepening cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, infrastructure, education, and energy. Both nations reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing mutual interests, strengthening friendly relations, and exploring new avenues for collaboration that align with their respective political and economic aspirations.

Dr. Al Hammadi commended Ghana’s pivotal role in promoting stability and economic development across West Africa. He emphasized Qatar’s keen interest in fostering partnerships aligned with Ghana’s development agenda, describing Ghana as a strategic partner in Africa. Qatar, he noted, values Ghana’s leadership in regional integration and its commitment to democratic governance.

Ambassador Cleland, on his part, expressed gratitude for Qatar’s continued engagement and support in Ghana’s developmental initiatives. He underscored Ghana’s intent to attract Qatari investment in critical sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, technology, and infrastructure. He also reiterated Ghana’s support for Qatar’s initiatives on multilateral platforms addressing global challenges like security, climate change, and education.

Also present at the meeting were Ambassador Khalid bin Jabr Al Mussalam, Qatar’s envoy to Ghana, and Mr. Mubarak bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director of the Department of African Affairs at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with senior diplomats and advisors from both nations.

Following the discussions, Ambassador Al Mussalam praised the outcome, highlighting the growing momentum in Qatar-Ghana relations. “Today’s talks reflect the strong political will on both sides to advance a partnership founded on mutual respect and shared values,” he remarked.

He further emphasized Qatar’s view of Ghana as a vital partner and a gateway to the West African region, promising strengthened collaboration not just at the governmental level but also in fostering cultural, educational, and business exchanges.

The consultations marked a continuation of previous dialogues aimed at institutionalizing diplomatic discussions and enhancing bilateral coordination. Both parties agreed to make the consultations a regular feature to monitor progress, address challenges, and prioritize strategic goals.

In a joint statement, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and Ghana described the talks as productive, forward-looking, and reflective of the brotherly relations between the two nations.
