Tema, Ghana – The Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Abraham Koomson, has called on the parliamentary majority to remain focused on governance and not be distracted by criticisms from the minority.
Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu show with host Nana Dogbe, Mr. Koomson noted that the new NDC government has been in office for less than three months, yet the minority has already begun making noise.
“I appeal to the majority in Parliament to stay focused and not be distracted. The new government has been in power for less than three months, yet the minority has already started making noise,” he stated.
Mr. Koomson argued that the previous administration, which held power for eight years, failed to make significant progress. He, therefore, urged the current majority not to be swayed by the opposition’s rhetoric.
“The majority should not waste time on the noise of the minority. What did they achieve in their eight years in power?” he questioned.
He further encouraged the majority to use their numerical advantage in Parliament to pass decisions that would drive national development.
“The majority should leverage their numbers to make decisions that will benefit the country’s development,” he advised.
Mr. Koomson also suggested that while the minority has the right to express their opinions, the majority must ensure that unnecessary distractions do not hinder governance.
“The minority can talk, but if their words do not contribute to national development, the majority should use their mandate to silence them. Ghanaians voted overwhelmingly for the NDC to lead, and they must use that mandate effectively,” he asserted.
He concluded with a strong appeal for unity and focus, urging the majority to support President Mahama in his efforts to build a better Ghana.
“The majority must not be distracted. They should remain focused and take the necessary actions to drive the country’s development,” he emphasized.
