GFA Vice-President Mark Addo has praised Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea for his outstanding performance at AFCON 2025, setting him as a benchmark for excellence in officiating.
Laryea’s masterclass in Morocco, including handling the Morocco-Nigeria semi-final, has earned him recognition as one of Africa’s top referees.
Laryea was among 23 officials awarded FIFA badges for the 2026 season, receiving a standing ovation at the GFA ceremony. Addo commended Laryea, saying,
“You did a great job in Morocco and we are very proud of you. This is the level of performance we expect from all of you. Let Daniel’s performance serve as a guide and motivation to strive for the very best”.
The Ghanaian referee’s AFCON 2025 duties included Algeria vs Burkina Faso and VAR duties in Morocco’s quarter-final win over Cameroon. Laryea is now back in Ghana, set to officiate in the Ghana Premier League, bringing valuable international experience to local matches.
