GFA Owes Referees, But Payment Efforts Underway – Kurt Okraku
Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has acknowledged that the association owes match officials but assured that efforts are being made to address the situation.
The Concerned Referees and Match Commissioners of Ghana (CRAMCOG) had threatened to boycott the remainder of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season due to unpaid allowances, citing a 21-week delay.
Okraku stated, “We owe referees, but we’re working around the clock to fix it… We’re committed to ensuring referees are paid.” He attributed the delay to unpaid funds from broadcast partner StarTimes, affecting the GFA’s cash flow.
Okraku dismissed reports of an officiating boycott, saying, “Reject the report of a pullout. The FA has not shown bad faith towards referees. If there are challenges, we fix them together.”
