GFA Fines Nations FC’s Emmanuel Annor for Religious Message

The Ghana Football Association has fined Nations FC player Emmanuel Annor GHS 500 for displaying a “I belong to Jesus” message on his undergarment after scoring against Asante Kotoko.

The GFA’s Disciplinary Committee found Annor guilty of misconduct, citing a breach of league rules prohibiting religious or political messages during matches.

Annor received a strong warning, with the GFA stating that future incidents would lead to more severe sanctions, including possible suspension or further disciplinary action.

The incident has sparked debate among fans and analysts, with some supporting players’ right to express their faith and others advocating for sports to remain apolitical and free from religious displays.
