GFA boss Kurt E.S Okraku appears in court in defamation suit against Atta Poku, Sompa TV/FM
The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, appeared in court on Monday April 7, 2024, in his defamation lawsuit against journalist Collins Atta Poku and owners of Sompa TV/FM, Teraone Media Limited.
The GFA boss appeared in court in the company of his lawyer Godwin Mensah Sackey, for a hearing in the GHC 30 million lawsuit brought by the leader of Ghanaian football.
The Defendants did not appear in court on Monday and were represented by their counsel.
The parties will return to court on Monday April 14, 2025.
President Kurt Okraku, who is an Executive Council member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has dragged the journalist and his media outfit to court for making defamatory and libelous statement against him.
In a statement of claim at the High Court, Okraku accused the defendants of publishing false accusations to defame his character and bring him into public odium.
The claims range from misappropriation to funds meant for Black Stars players, ill-treatment of defender Daniel Amartey, and buying of buses for Division One League clubs.
