GES Releases Funds for Perishable Food Items for SHS 2 and SHS 3 Students

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released funds to Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs) for the procurement of perishable food items for second- and third-year students.

In a letter dated July 15, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the GES announced that payments covering the period from March 1 to September 4, 2026, had been transferred to the accounts of the various second-cycle institutions.

The directive, signed by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Assurance, Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, on behalf of the Director-General, instructed Regional Directors to notify heads of beneficiary SHSs and SHTSs that the funds were available.

According to the GES, the funds are specifically intended for the purchase of perishable food items to support the feeding of SHS 2 and SHS 3 students.

The Service has further directed heads of beneficiary schools to submit official receipts for the funds received to the Director-General through their respective Regional Accountants.

The GES expressed confidence in the cooperation of Regional Directors and heads of schools to ensure the effective implementation of the directive and the proper use of the funds.
