The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured the public that all qualified candidates who sat for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be placed in Senior High and Technical Schools across the country.
In a statement issued on May 14, 2026, the GES said adequate preparations have been made to admit fresh students into various schools from September 18, 2026.
The Service congratulated all Junior High School graduates for successfully completing the BECE and encouraged them to remain calm ahead of the placement process.
According to the GES, reports circulating in some sections of the media suggesting that about 72,000 students may not gain placement are false and misleading.
“The report circulating in sections of the media suggesting that about 72,000 students risk not being placed is speculative and does not reflect the reality. We therefore urge the public to disregard it,” the statement said.
The GES further stated that there are enough facilities and infrastructure across the country to accommodate all qualified students.
Management also assured stakeholders that ongoing efforts to phase out the double-track system would not affect access to secondary education.
According to the Service, the move is expected to improve the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining full access for students entering Senior High and Technical Schools.
The GES reaffirmed its commitment to providing equitable, inclusive and quality education for every Ghanaian child and called on stakeholders to support the process.
