Gender Minister Visits Suspect’s Home as Husband Reveals 11-Year Marriage Without Pregnancy

The husband of the suspect in the alleged baby theft incident at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in the Greater Accra Region has disclosed that he has been married to his wife for eleven years without ever having a child.

According to the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the husband made the revelation when she visited their residence at Abossey Okai Zongo in Accra to sympathise with the family.

Speaking on an Accra-based radio station on Wednesday, the Minister recounted that the husband said he had been married to the suspect, identified as Latifa Salifu, for the past eleven years, but the couple had not been blessed with a child throughout their marriage.

The Minister noted that the husband explained that his wife had become increasingly desperate to have a child, a situation which may have influenced her alleged actions.

The case involves the alleged abduction of a four-day-old baby belonging to Precious Ankomah and her husband, Mohammed Kwame Agyemang, from the Mamprobi Polyclinic.

Madam Lartey further indicated that due to the emotional and psychological impact of childlessness over the years, arrangements would be made for a psychologist to engage the suspect and provide professional support to address any possible trauma linked to the situation.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
