Galamsey Fight: we are not ensuring fair administrative of justice – Daryl Bosu

The Deputy National Director of Arocha Ghana, Daryl Bosu has said, we are not winning the fight against illegal mining as a country because we have not been able to ensure fair administrative of justice

He indicated that, the issue is not the fact that we deal with foreigners punitively to resolve our problems but being able to ensure fair administrative of justice

In an interview with the media, he said, “The impunity and emboldened attitudes with which illegal perpetrators are engaging in this attitude is such that we need to do things right”

The Ghana Environmental Advocacy groups and Arocha Ghana have questioned why only two Chinese Nationals have been arrested in relation to illegal mining activities and have been paraded in the full glare of the public

“Report from the Fourth Estate making an enquiry using the RTI to request the number of Chinese Nationals we have in our cells indicated only two (2) of them are in jail”

Mr Daryl explained that, they have realised the country is not doing well in ensuring that prosecution is fair and covers all people without any favor particularly to people who are politically exposed

“Seems government have challenges in enforcing the law because we have many taskforce set up by government to clamp down on illegal mining but it seems nothing is done”

He said, as the president admitted we made a mistake in the past by freeing Aisha Huang, we need to take the opportunity and correct the past by ensuring the laws are being applied
