Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele recently responded to a fan who suggested she should have more children. In a clip that has gone viral from her Snapchat account, a fan named Remmy commented, “The twins need a new brother/sister.” Funke found the remark amusing and jokingly replied that she would let Remmy take care of the baby.
“Don’t worry, I’ve noted your name, and I’ll find your address. You will be the one to carry the baby and say, ‘Baby, baby, don’t cry,’ while you rock them,” she said, blowing a kiss to the camera afterward.
While Funke took the comment in stride with humor, many other social media users criticized the fan’s suggestion, urging people to mind their own business.
Some comments included:
“She’s just being nice responding this way. Why can’t people focus on their own lives instead of others’?”
“People act as if carrying a pregnancy and raising babies is easy. Do you think she’s just a baby factory? She’s a woman building her own career. God help us.”
“I love how she deals with trolls. She always makes light of everything and maintains a peaceful demeanor.”
“I really think minding your own business should be a course in Nigerian universities because clearly some people lack that skill.”
“You all seem to enjoy testing people’s patience.”
“So having two kids isn’t enough for any rational person? Why dictate to her how to expand her family?”
“I admire this woman for how she handles people who invade her private life, unlike that other one who calls herself a godmother.”
